Gochujang Glazed Meat & Veggies
Ingredients
- 1 cup of rice
- Ground meat (beef, turkey, etc.)
- 1 pepper
- 1 onion
- 2 carrots
- 4~6 cloves of garlic
- Soy sauce or a substitute
- Gochujang paste/sauce
- Honey
- Ginger
- Garlic powder
Order of Operations
- Prepare 1 cup of rice and set aside
- Prepare veggies
- Core 1 (red, yellow) pepper and slice into thin strips
- Slice 1 onion or shallot into thin strips
- Shave 2 carrots into ribbons with a veggie peeler
- Mince 2 tbsp (4-6 cloves) of garlic
- Prepare sauce in small mixing bowl
- 2 tbsp soy sauce or substitute
- 3 tbsp gochujang
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp garlic
- 1 tbsp ginger
- Mix sauce and set aside
- Bring cast iron skillet to heat, if using regular pan, add some oil
- Add meat of choice to pan and let it sear
- As meat sears, season with salt and pepper
- When meat is about 90% cooked, create hole in center by moving meat to sides of pan
- Add some extra oil
- Add onion & pepper and let them brown
- Add carrot ribbons and let them cook down
- Create another hole in center by moving meat and veggies to sides of pan
- Add sauce to pan and let it cook until it bubbles
- Stir meat and veggies thoroughly
Once thoroughly mixed, set pan to the side and prepare to serve.
